The Pumkin Pots Have Landed

The pumpkin pots landed on the window sill in the kitchen. They actually make doing dishes fun. No, I am just kidding! Have a wonderful day!

Turkey Plates

I went shopping yesterday to take advantage of all the sales on fall decorations. I found eight round place mats to go with the turkey plates I bought at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago. The fall floral picks I bought at Jo Ann's. Underneath the plates are a few pieces of paper I will use to make place cards. We only have a small gathering for Thanksgiving but I like making place cards anyway.

The turkey plate deserves a little attention! I like that it has a bit of pink in it, not your usual fall color.

We always eat around 2:00. How nice it would be to eat later, when the sun would be setting and cast these nice shadows.

You might think that I am getting ready for Thanksgiving way too early. The fall sales are out there and before you know it they will be playing Christmas songs on the radio. I am always doing everything last minute. I will need every minute to get ready! I should probably set the table tomorrow! I think I will wait on ordering the turkey.

Pistachio Muffins

In the Wednesday food section of our local paper was a recipe for pistachio muffins. I like muffins and pistachios so why not give this recipe a try. It was very easy and I had all the ingredients except the pudding mix.
I wanted to show you how cute the bottom of the muffins are. My Mother gave me the muffin pans a few years ago.
Here is the recipe from the local paper. If you click on the picture it might be easy to read, if you want to make a batch. I thought they were a little dry, but I don't mind that. I am 99% sure I followed the recipe correctly. 2 tablespoons of baking powder seems like a lot..not sure if the paper is right. It couldn't be me???I am going to give them another try. My solution to the dryness, would be to add put a little butter on the muffin. I can not find too much wrong with that! Most everything taste better with a little dab of butter!

White Pumpkins

Again, I was inspired by a blog. Again, I have no idea who to give credit to for this pumpkin inspiration. I must confess, I read a lot of blogs, I mean a lot of blogs! I do know that after I read the post I went to my local dollar store and bought six pumpkins. That was in early September and could be the reason I have no idea where this idea came from. I do know that these will be on our Thanksgiving table.

I could not find six pumpkins all the same color. That may be the reason it took so long to make these little pumpkin topiaries. I haven't been in a painting mood. But I have decided to really try and finish everything I start. All I needed was the Spanish moss and a could kick in the pants.

I am not quite sure if I like the pot painted this way. There is always tomorrow. It could be another color by noon.

This little green bird is well traveled, it has been in a few different arrangements in the last few months. It looks right at home here peeking around the corner.

Apple for the Teacher

I made a few apple clippies, this time I thought they would make nice notepaper holders. I am sure Miss Lavoie can use them. I am finishing up the paint cans. I am still stealing glass jars from the recycle bin. This was a pizza sauce jar. I am going to buy a few mason jars because as hard as I try I can not get the pickle scent out of the pickle jar.

I always wonder, how did the apple become associated with teachers. I also wonder if teachers wish another fruit would replace it. Why not a pear, a pineapple or a peach? But then again, it is nice knowing that somethings never change!

I filled this jar with hard candy. The jar looks really pretty with all the different color candies and wrappers. Miss Lavoie, this is the start to your apple collection.

Paper, no paint!

A friend, who is a teacher asked me to make a few of these paper covered paint cans for her classroom. They are really easy to do. You can buy empty clean paint cans at Lowes. I have a few more to make, they will be done tomorrow. Another finished project!!!

This little birdie is going somewhere!

My favorite part of this can is the little pieces of fabric on the handle.

Pickle Jar

Last night while taking the recyclables outside I noticed this small pickle jar. A lot of the blogs are already showing their Christmas ideas and a few were using canning jars. I bought some new paper this week and it does look a bit like Christmas paper, so why not give it a try?

I do not like the background paper, but I have a lot of things to do today and I am not going to take these pictures again. This jar would look great filled with Hershey Kisses. The silver wrapping would look nice against the red.

A few months ago I came across a blogger that had papered her tea bags. I do not remember the blog, if anyone does know the blog or if it is yours, please let me know. I always like to give credit for what inspires me. The blogger wrote little notes on the tea bags. They were so cute. It would be nice to fill a jar with tea bags and give it to a friend.

Wonderful Weekend

Have a wonderful weekend. I will be watching the games and maybe being a little creative. Fall weather arrived yesterday and I am not very happy. There is nothing I can do about the weather so I will be positive and enjoy everything Fall has to offer. Okay, I want sunshine, warm summer nights, green trees, sandals, eating outside...

Friday Morning Curtain

I just wanted to share a picture of the curtain I made this morning. I can not believe I actually finished a project, really finished a project. I do not like the cream ribbon bows that much, but that is not a major issue. I can sew two fabric ribbons later today. I have been wanting to make a fabric covered shade for this window. All you need to make one is a cheap vinyl shade, fabric and fusible webbing. That will be a project for next week.

Black Cat

Last week I saw so many cute Halloween decorations at TJ Maxx. There was a small pillow with a black cat on it that caught my attention. I always think, I could make that. When I get home I usually forget, so I went right to Michael's and bought a piece of felt. It did take a few days but this is my version of what I saw. I made it so it could go on a doorknob. However, all my doors are painted white so it did not photograph that well on any door in the house. Believe me I tried!

Postcard Stamp

A friend of mine sent me this postcard stamp. She knew I had been looking for one and the hunt was not going very well. I wanted to make something with it as soon as I found it in the mail box. The size of the stamp is perfect for making tags. They were a quick little project and not that messy...even better!

I am not sure why I stamped the flower on the post card image but it sure does make the tag colorful. I used a lot of scraps to make these tags...always a good thing. Buttons are certainly a good thing.

I will say that I have been stamping quite a lot since I went to the demonstration last month. I love to use my new markers, I always liked to color. Now, I color with markers instead of crayons!

I had a lot of fun making these. They were "no brainers". They would look great tied on the small brown gift bags I know I bought a few months ago. Where did I put them....

Bump

I have hit a bump in the road with my daughter's room. The bureau drawer pulls are an odd size, of course they are. I may have to fill the old holes and drill new ones. It may not sound like that big of a deal, but I hadn't planned on it! So let's make a few pillows !
This chair needs more pillows, yes more pillows! The chair was made to sit on, yes you know some chairs look good but can you really sit on them? It is comfy and pretty! I covered the bottom cushion, with a really pretty light green printed fabric. Easy to change when needed.

I would have never picked out these colors for myself, even though I like them very much. The pillow goes great on the couch in the living room. I may just have to make another for myself.

Adding this little flower is just what the pillow needed. It was so plain without it, I mean plain.

Halloween Tree

I have been working on this little project on and off for a week now. One night while looking for Halloween images I found a Halloween tree. I forgot to put it my favorites so what it looked like I do not remember and I can not give someone credit for the idea. But I have seen a few trees similar to mine so that is what I went for. We had a storm in New England a few weeks back that left a lot of branches on the ground. So, I cleaned the yard and made a cute tree. Two for the price of one! I sprayed the branches black, stuck them in floral foam added some Spanish moss and this is what I got. Oh, and a few paper ornaments!
This little witch demanded a close up. I agreed, she came out rather cute!

After looking at the first pictures, I kept thinking something was not quite right. Then I noticed that I forgot to distress the pot. I just wanted to finish this tree and forgot all about it. So, I painted the pot and took a new batch of pictures.
I added a little glitter to a few of the pumpkins. I wanted to glitter a few of the branches. I think I will leave then alone for now, maybe next year.

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins

I am still working on my daughter's room and a few other projects. I am not going to take any pictures of them until I am finished. I am still not happy with my camera, it may be going back today! I thought I would post a few pictures of festive fall displays. I would love to have any of them! The first one is just above and beyond anything I would do in the front of my house. I would have to have my own pumpkin patch. The pictures are from Country Living and Country Home. They are two of my favorite magazines.
I would love to be greeted by this friendly pumpkin/snowman during any season!

This is what you can do with your birdbaths after all the birds fly south for the winter!

This display must of taken hours to put together. The end result is beautiful!

White Bedroom Furniture

I have been working in my daughter's room for the past few days. I am painting her bedroom furniture white. Not a true white, but an off white. I wanted to distress it a little, but she likes it just the way it looked after two coats of paint. Less work for me! We will be looking for new hardware this weekend.
My father made this picket fence headboard a few years ago. I painted it brown which actually dried purple! Not the look we were going after. It is back to white! Her walls are a pretty shade of purple, not the drab tan it looks like in this picture.

I love this bedspread, so many pretty colors. That leads to a lot of pretty pillows. I love mixing all the prints together!

Edible Ghosts

Yes, these are friendly and tasty ghosts! Two of my favorite bloggers "Painted Pink Pot" and "Cackleberry Cottage" had posts about these cute ghosts cookies. They are made out of Nutter Butter cookies and white chocolate. They were very easy to make. Most were dipped on both sides, but a few I just covered the front with chocolate. I figured you could eat a few more that way.

My will power is not what it use to be so I put these six little ghosts, yes there are six in the bag. I guess three ghosts are camera shy. They were sent to a friend's house. I think I will make a few more batched between now and Halloween. They might look cute in the Chinese food containers I decorated a few weeks back. Ah, where did I put them? Just kidding, I know where they are.

I never thought I would use this boo stamp as much as I have.
