Wonderful Weekend

A few weeks ago I blogged about paper birds that I saw flying in local library foyer. On Mother's Day I put a few outside on these pretty pansies. It was a windy day and the birds were practically flying. My daughter thought it would be cute if I made a few pigs with wings. I am waiting for another windy day to see if this pig will fly.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I find the sight of a naked paper mache box a crime! If I buy one, it is with the intent to cover it with paper. The next objective will be to fill it with paper. Not ordinary white paper but paper crafts!

This box will soon find a home at my daughter's apartment. My daughter and her roommate lead very busy lives. My daughter has a 45 minute commute to work, her roommate works and goes to college. I hope to make there life a bit easier. Don't get carried away and think that I am going to help with the cleaning. I hate to clean! But I like a clean house, so I clean.
I will fill this box with cards, stamps and a pen. When they need a card all they have to do is find the box and pick a card, any card! I supply the pen and the stamp they will have to find a mailbox.

They both love owls, so I see owl cards in their future, many owl cards.

Parchment Paper Muffins

I bought a few food related magazines on Friday, one of them had cute muffins baked in parchment paper. I always have parchment paper on hand and bread/muffin mixes are always in my pantry. I cut the paper to fit the muffin tins and filled them 3/4 full. They did take longer to bake, about 10 minutes more. They look so cute! Not much pan cleaning needed, a bonus! I made pumpkin muffins, my family loves pumpkin muffins no matter what the season.

I bought this new mug on Friday. I thought it was the right size, for the amount of coffee I need to get going in the morning. We also love the red birds.

I plan to have this cute muffin after supper with a nice cup of chia tea. Yum!

Memorial Day Weekend

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. My family has been going to the same cook out for years, it is the unoffical start to summer. We will be going again this year. The grill will be lit, volleyball will be played and if we are lucky maybe the first campfire of the year. Memorial Day is meant to remember and honor US men and women who died while in the military service. I fly a flag all year round, I love this country. However, this year I will visit my brother's grave and place a flag there for him, because I know he also loved this country. I will put this little potted geranuim, too. I miss him everyday.

Thank you to all the men and women who serve and protect our country.

Thanks for visiting.

Let the weekend Begin !

I haven't blogged or visited any of my favorite sites this week, shame on me. The weather has been slowly improving and I have spent a lot of time painting pots, planting and watering! But I really enjoy doing this, I am not complaining. I planted basil in this barrel for the past two years, it does really well. I thought I would add a little color to it this year. I hope the basil does not take over, we will see. I love fresh basil!

Last week I found this red table at my favorite thrift store. It would not fit in the car, too may passengers that day. My father went back to get it for me and the owner gave it to him for free. I would say it was a good deal. I painted a few purple flowers on it, nothing big believe me.

I love the contrast of the red and blue.

Sunny Saturday

These pretty purple flowers grow on the side of the house that we seldom use before summertime. By the time we open the pool, they are long gone! I was meeting a friend Friday night, so I decided to pick a bunch to give to her. I put them in a simple mason jar and added blue food coloring to the water. The bird picks I made have come in pretty handy, I need to make more! However, not today! We are having a beautiful spring day in Rhode Island and I am typing this on the deck under a beautiful blue sky listening to some music and oh yes, the neighbor's rooster that crows from sunrise to sunset! But, I don't mind!

Green Green Green

I am determined to get my deck done by Memorial Day Weekend. That means planting, painting and sewing. The rain seems to be helping with the plants. They are looking quite good considering I have not used any kind of fertilizer. I hope you can see that there are votives burning in the candle holders. This will be my favorite summer hang out!

Treasures

This blue bucket of greenery may not look like much at first glance. However, my Mom gave me these little treasures from her yard. She took the time to pick them, with the roots of course. I planted them Monday night, let's hope that they take root! We may have a bit of a cold spell tonight.

Saturday was a nice Day

This past Saturday I left the house at 9:30 in the morning. Have I ever mentioned I am not a morning person. I spent the day with with a friend going to a craft show to benefit the library where she works, thrift store shopping, having lunch, visiting an organic nursery, and a Starbucks stop. We had a nice day between the sunshine and the raindrops. I bought this small chair at the thrift store, I knew it would look nice with a pot on it.

Saturday night I painted a few more pots and a few of these wooden picks. I like the distressed look of the sign. I love mint and it is so easy to grow! I may already have to transplant this little mint.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.
I hope you do not mind another polka dotted pot, but I can not stop making them.
The color combonations are endless!
I already am in the process of making a few more!
Again, have a wonderful weekend!

Bloom

What is that I see streaming through the kitchen window? Is that the sunshine? I love a dark rainy day, but we have so many dreary days that I am craving the sunshine! I have been trying to take a picture of this banner for three days now. My house is always rather dark inside no matter how many lights I turn on. This morning the birds are chirping and I already have the doors open letting all the natural light inside the house. This beautiful weather may not last long so I may have to have my morning coffee on the deck!
I just enjoy making these banners. I also really like the paper covered clothespins. They are so easy to make and they add that little extra something. I always say it is the little things that add so much.

I still have to paint the door and porch. Even though the sun is out, they are both too damp to paint today. Oh, what shall I do for the rest of the day? I know I will be outside as soon as possible. You can not complain about the weather and stay inside on a day like this. No housecleaning for this girl today!

Another Bag

Another day, another bag, I had to make one more. I think this bag will be great to use when I am going out for a long day of shopping. It is very lightweight, and could hold small purchases. It could easily hold a water bottle and a few snacks. I don't usually leave the house without a drink and a piece of fruit. Too many yummy temptations out there! Okay, I do keep emergency candy in my glove compartment. Driving can be very stressful!

The fabric is really pretty. I think I will look for a few orange shirts for the summer. Not bright orange, just the right color orange. Maybe, I will even buy a few red shirts. I am determined to bring color into my wardrobe.

Fresh New Look

Over the weekend I painted our porch decking a deep brown. It had always been a color that matched the house, it was boring! What a difference a can of paint can make. Why hadn't I done this years ago? One little problem, I did not like the dark green door so I decided to make a big change and paint the door yellow. Yikes, that color did not last long! I repainted the door a pretty sage green. Now, the deck needs another coat and so does the door. But rain has been an issue as it always is in the spring. I love the new look and now all it needs are a few potted plants and a spring wreath. Hopefully, that will be done by the weekend! I will post pictures as soon as the job is done! Rain rain go away come again another day. Since it is raining I am of to an afternoon movie.
